I will be leading a FREE poetry workshop for the public at the Brooklyn Public Library as a part of their Walt Whitman 200 year series of events. You can register through the library website.
Description of Workshop: Batman and Bruce Wayne. Drake and Aubrey Graham. Walt Whitman and Walt Whitman. The alter-ego might be that person that exists in us, with superhuman strength, star power, and bravery. Or it could be our shadow selves, a different, darker entity within us. In this workshop we will examine the use of alter-egos and persona in poetry, and explore what it means to access that alter-ego through poetry. We will cross-examine the use of the "I" speaker in poems, attempt to craft our own poems based on our alter-egos, and expand our understanding of Persona poems.
I’ll be visiting Ithaca to read at Buffalo Street Books for the Constance Saltonstall Foundation for Spring Writes. I’ll be reuniting with my Cornell poet cohort Benjamin Garcia and Alex Chertok.

I’ll be at the AWP 2019 conference, and reading with these incredible fierce poets Michelle Penaloza, Jennifer S. Cheng, Soham Patel, and Diana Khoi Nguyen as part of “WILD GIRL POETS: A READING AN RECKONING!”
This reading and conversation features a new generation of Asian American women poets who declare themselves “wild girl poets,” a term Marilyn Chin used during a Kundiman gathering to signify the spirit of Asian American women who defy stereotypes. Being a wild girl poet is having a crew of wild girls fighting with you. It’s about resistance, about taking risks, about matrilineal and literary lineage, about laughter, about not being afraid of being too loud or too quiet.
